Hello Readers!
Thanks for your interest in this site and welcome. I am currently a PhD candidate at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, Germany. Biogeochemist whaat? No big deal, more on that in the coming posts, betcha :)
So I have been toying with the idea of having a personal, science related blog for a long time. But how sciency will it get? The answer is not too much, for expert knowledge (a.k.a. shits I have learned up to now) do feel feel to write me an email or read my coming scientific papers (fingers crossed big time). The main idea of this blog is to be able to talk about my research and science in the simplest sense so that the main ideas and messages can reach out to a wider audience- which is super important because every research does start with a simple question. Newton first asked "Why did the apple fall to the ground" but not "Is there a certain force between the particles of the ovaries of Malus domestica and the earth that causes them to collide?", you get me. Yeah, it was that damn simple apple which has started all this strings of gravitational theories.
Believe me, most researchers and scientists including myself tend to lose the important, holistic view of what we're doing- in another words we stuck day and night performing lab work, or analyzing data, and we tend to forgot what we are actually doing and why we are doing all this shits, we lose the big, important, and beautifully simple questions. So public outreach aside, this blog would also be an opportunity for me to not lose sight on the important questions in my work and of course, to answer the questions I myself am asking.
More posts will follow and for the next one I will be talking about "C = Carbon", which plays a great, great role not just in my work, but (almost) all living beings inhabiting our planet Earth.
Stay tuned =)
